Narrative

His first 2 children are named after his parents, then the next 3 are named after 3 of his siblings, in the same order as his siblings were born. The youngest, Thomas Sims Fisher, may have been named after the oldest child of his oldest brother. Perhaps Thomas Sims was his maternal grandfather? All of their children were baptised at the Primitive Methodist church, Jersey Street, Ancoats. Henry Street and Cotton Street were very close to the church. They probably went to church every Sunday.
Their second child (Richard) was born in Hull in November 1841. When Richard was baptised in Manchester in January 1842 his father was working in Hull. What could be the reason for this short stay in Hull? Brothers Robert and Richard were living in Hull in 1841 census. Not found Sims in 1841 but he was probably there, with his wife who was one month into her pregnancy with son Richard, their second child.
At the height of his career, Sims was living and working on Great Ancoats Street then he moved back to Ancoats where lots of his family were living.
