Narrative

Richard was born and baptised in Harpham. He married Dorothy Jarrott at St Martin's church in Lowthorpe, where she was born and was living with her parents.
They returned to live in Harpham, where their 7 children were baptised. Only 4 of their 7 children lived beyond 20. Marriages have been found for 3 of them. Sons William and Richard were both carpet weavers, and their marriages were both in nearby Nafferton. Youngest daughter Ann married in Harpham, where she was living with her father, then moved to Long Riston where her husband was from.
Dorothy was in her fifties when she died, which was before any of her children were married.
Richard died when he was about sixty. They were both buried in Harpham.
