Narrative

David's oldest brother was born in Scotland. David and a younger brother were born in Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire. His seven other siblings were all born in or very near Stockport, where his father was born.
STOCKPORT
David lived in Stockport for about 20 years, and his wife Isabella was born in Stockport. They married in Cheadle but they were living in Edgeley, and they returned to Stockport where most of their children were subsequently born. Their first child was a daughter, who was named Mary Jennet after her 2 grandmothers. Their first son was named John after David's father but he died when he was just one year old. David and his wife Isabella both worked as cotton weavers on powered looms. David's mother died in 1864, which is about the time David moved to Ancoats with his Family.
ANCOATS
They were both about 45, and had 5 surviving children (3 died during infancy). Two of their children were married in Manchester in 1868. In May their eldest son David aged 20, married Mary Jane Campion in Manchester Cathedral. In August of the same year, their eldest child Mary Jennet aged 26, married James Joshua Batty in St Philip church, Ancoats. David and his wife lived in Ancoats until they died aged 75 and 65. They are both buried in Philips Park Cemetery, in separate graves relatively near each other.
