Narrative

Ophelia was born in Crumpsall and stayed there all her life. According to the 1871 census she was deaf. Her age is always correct on census records. She was a witness at the weddings of her sister Roxanna and her brother Ambrose but she doesn't sign her name, or sign at her own wedding.
Ophelia married William Livesey when they were both 25, and their first child was born the following year. They had 3 children before William died before he was 40.

There was a hotel at number 2 Waterloo Street, which was the northern end of the street. Her husband William was a brewer, so he probably worked at the hotel.
1871 living at 17 Waterloo Street next door to a Temperance Hall, which was next door to a Wesleyan Chapel.
Lived at 20 James Street for a number of years. Next door was a shop, number 18, which was probably on the corner of Waterloo Street.
No rate book entries for Ophelia from 1886 to 1894 but she was probably living in Crumpsall, at Cheltenham Place, with her marrried son Thomas, where she was living for the 1891 census. Cheltenham Place was at the West end of James Street, away from Waterloo Street.
Ophelia moves to 54 Waterloo Street, which was on the corner of John Street. There would be more windows in a corner property.
