Ashworth, JOHN
Narrative
John and his wife Mary were buried in the graveyard of St Thomas a Becket. Over 50 years later the church was damaged in a great storm, and the west face of the tower fell away. Some measure of repair took place and the church remained in use up to 1854 when the new church of St Thomas the Apostle was completed. John and Mary's gravestone is inside the new church. It may have been moved there, or the church may have been built over it.
