Burns, JANE

Birth Name Burns, JANE 1a 2a
Gender female
Age at Death about 61 years, 5 months

Narrative

Not found any baptism records for Jane or her siblings. Probably baptised in a Catholic church and the records are not available. Jane's father was Irish and Jane was buried in a Catholic grave (her husband wasn't). Jane's mother was also buried in a Catholic grave.
FATHER'S DEATH
Jane's father died when he was 28. Jane was about seven years old, and her mother was pregnant with the youngest of Jane's four siblings.
MOTHER'S DEATH
Jane's mother died in 1859 when she was 41. Jane was 22, her siblings were: William 21, Mary Ann 19, Elizabeth 16, and Thomas 15.
MARRIAGE
Jane got married a year after her mother's death, when she was living in Ancoats. After their marriage they moved to Rolleston Street in Ancoats, where they lived for 30 years at a number of different houses.
In 1888 Jane and her husband William had moved to 21 Rolleston Street (next door to the Nelson Tavern at 19). Her husband died in 1890. In the 1891 census only her son Charles is still living at home. Jane's occupation is Hardware Dealer. Maybe there was a shop at 21 Rolleston Street?
1897 Jane died at the home of her married daughter, Matilda Jane, at 3 Marcer Street, which crossed Rolleston Street, where Jane had lived for 35 years. Jane was buried in the Catholic section of Philips Park cemetery, her husband was buried in the same cemetery but not in the Catholic section.
