Thomas was born in Ireland, and his wife was born in Jersey, so they probably met and got married in Manchester, where their first child was born. They were probably Catholics, and very few Catholic marriage records are available. Their daughter Jane was buried in a Catholic part of Philips Park cemetery, but her husband was buried in the non-Catholic part of Philips Park cemetery. Thomas was about 28 when he died.
