Narrative

William worked as an Iron Dresser (aka Fettler) all his life. Working in a iron foundry, he removed adherant sand from castings and chipped off any irregularities. The sand would be from the mold that was used in sand casting. Removing the sprue and risers would also be part of his job.
He may have worked with Edward Coyle for a few years, who was the father of his wife Mary.
William and his family lived at many different addresses (as his daughter Clara told her son Ron). The family were always on the move, and probably owing money, but they still took in the children of Mary's sister, Maria and Joseph Smith.
When William's daughter Clara was married, WIlliam added his signature to those of the two witnesses.
William had retired when he died in 1937 aged 68. He was buried in Phillips Park where his wife joined him 10 years later.

In loving memory of JAMES, beloved husband of ADA BOWKER, died June 26th 1940, aged 38 years.
Also ADA, beloved wife of above, died Oct. 26th 1960, aged 57 years.
(No mention of William and Mary Horrockso on the headstone. William was buried before James Bowker, so William's headstone must have been replaced?)
