Furber, JOHN

Birth Name Furber, JOHN 1a 2a
Also Known As Furbor, John 1b
Gender male
Age at Death 68 years, 7 months

Narrative

In 1738 John's eldest sister Elizabeth had an illegitimate son, who she called Thomas after her father. Elizabeth was 21 years old, and she was living in the Outlands, probably with her parents. Elizabeth remained single and died aged 65 in Bishop's Offley, which was near the Outlands. Elizabeth's son Thomas married Anne Stacy and lived in Bishop's Offley, so presumably his mother was living with Thomas and his family in Bishop's Offley.
When John Furber and Elizabeth Kerbey met, his parents were living in Outlands and her parents were living in Fair Oak, a mile and a half away.
When they got married John was 35, which was 10 years older than Elizabeth, but they were both single. John signed their marriage bann. Very few other entries are signed. John also signed as a witness to the marriage of his sister-in-law Mary Kerbey to Francis Simcock in 1760.
John was nearly 70 when he died, which suggests his parents were living better than most people of the time.
