Narrative
William is the most likely father of Richard, as they both lived in Thanet. William married Margaret Grant at St Nicholas at Wade in 1571. Their daughter Mildred was baptised in Ramsgate in 1577 but there were probably other baptisms before this. There was an 11 year gap until son Valletinus was baptised at St Nicholas at Wade in 1588. If Richard was born in this gap, he would have been aged 24 to 35 when he got married. Valentine called his first son Richard. Richard called his first son Richard, and his second son Valentine. In 1603 Margret a “maid” was buried at St Peters. Margret’s baptism was probably in the 11-year gap (above).
