Narrative

William was born in Coventry. He may have married his first wife there but it is more likely they got married in Manchester, where their children were born. His wife died after 1829 (birth of daughter Emma).
William and Ellen married in Eccles in 1829 (according to their son John's baptism) but the only marriage found in Eccles is in 1834. Did they give the wrong year? Did the vicar make a mistake? Or maybe they weren't married? It seems unlikely that William ever lived in Eccles, and if he was born in Coventry why would he get married in Eccles?
William and Ellen's sons, William and John, were born and baptised in Hulme. Daughter Mary Ellen was born in Salford and baptised in Manchester Cathedral.
William worked in the cotton mills as a spinner and a cotton baller. He died aged 63 in Salford.
